It was a trying day for the Raiders as their starting catcher was unavailable for the contest on Friday, whichput freshman Preston Fleharty in at catcher in what would be his first ever start in a varsity game.
Other than a few passed balls, the Raiders were pleased with Fleharty’s performance and were more concerned with the bats, as they left multiple runners stranded on base.
The loss eliminates the opportunity for the Raiders to become sole holder of the conference championship, but a win over Martensdale-St. Mary’s on Wednesday would allow them to share the top spot with the Blue Devils.
