ARLENE LOUISE WORTHINGTON
Arlene Louise (Richman) Worthington, 59, of Mount Ayr, IA passed away on November 11, 2021.
Arlene was born June 18, 1962, the eighth child, to William Junior and Jessie B (Akers) Richman in Portland, OR. At the age of one, the family moved back to Iowa and lived mostly in Southern Iowa. Arlene attended Grand Valley Community School in Kellerton and graduated with the class of 1981.
Arlene was married to Ronnie Barton in 1981 and two children were born: Dallas Marie and Damien Tyler. They later divorced.
Arlene met Bob Worthington in 1984 and they got married on April 7, 1986. Bob brought three children with him, and Arlene loved them like they were her own. Arlene loved her kids, grandkids and great grandkids and always got excited when she heard “there’s another one on the way!”
Arlene was a music “nut”, which she learned from her dad, and he taught her the love of music and how to play guitars along with her other siblings and sing, she could belt them out and never need a microphone! She passed the love of music down to her children and grandchildren and got together at family reunions and had a great time! Her and Bob would often go out to the lake and play guitars with Melvin Adams and just have a great time.
Arlene worked at the Ringgold County Hospital for the last three years at the time of her passing. She previously worked for Mount Ayr Products for 15 plus years, and Precision Optical for 10 years. Arlene made many friendships over the years.
Family was important in her life, but she also enjoyed going to garage sales with kids and grandkids. They knew when Poppy and Gramma were coming to Des Moines, there would be eating out, garage sales and shopping and just general fun! She enjoyed craft shows, loved flowers and just having a good time. One of her highlights was when her and Bob and Bob’s family got to go to Cancun, Mexico. Lots of fun was had by all!
