Mount Ayr golf keeps scores low

The Mount Ayr golf teams have had a nice spring so far, getting in two meets last week with a road trip to Wayne and a home meet.
Wayne Triangular
Mount Ayr traveled to Wayne on Monday, April 10 with a triangular against the Wayne Falcons and Melcher-Dallas Saints.
Wayne’s Nash Buckingham took top score of the day with a 37, while Mount Ayr took second, third and fourth, with a three-way tie for third.
Tanner Streit shot a 38 to take second, while Dylan Graham, Drew Ehlen and Jaxson Greene all scored 41 to tie for third.
Louden Main and Trevin Victor each scored 44 and tied at sixth, overall.
As a team, the Raiders finished first, shooting a team score of 249, while Wayne was second with a 289 and Melcher-Dallas came in third with 310.
The Raiderettes finished second in the triangular, posting a score of 364, while Wayne took first with a score of 352.
Melcher-Dallas had two girls, so could not post a team score.
Wayne’s Peyton Rhoadestook top honors on the night, shooting a 48, while Mount Ayr’s Mallory Weehler placed second with a 50.
Linsie Barnes finished fourth with a 53, Olivia Huntington took sixth with a 54, Kami Willis was 10th with a 64, Alaina Doolittle was 12th with a 69 and Ayla Murphy was 13th with a 74.
Mount Ayr Triangular
Mount Ayr hosted another meet on Thursday, April 13, with Martensdale-St. Marys and Central Decatur in attendance.
The Raiders finished the day with a score of 181 to take the win, while Martensdale-St. Marys struggled, shooting a 251, taking second, while Central Decatur only had two golfers on the course.
The Raiders took the top four slots, as Dylan Graham took first with a 42 and Tanner Streit was second, also with a 42.
Jaxson Greene shot a 48 to take third and Keye Willis was fourth with a 49.
Louden Main shot a 54and placed eighth on the day, while Trevin Victor placed ninth with a 55.
On the junior varsity side of things, the Raiders saw Rylan Larsen in sixth with a 53, Tyler Still in 11th with a 58, Birk Willis in 14th with a 65 and Mitchell Jackson in 12th with a 59.
The Raiderettes battled with the Martensdale-St. Marys Blue Devils on Thursday as the Central Decatur Cardinals had two golfers on the course.
Between the Raiderettes and Blue Devils, the Raiderettes missed first place by two strokes, scoring a 238, while the Blue Devils edged the Raiderettes with a 236.
Linsie Barnes missed out on the top spot of the day by one stroke, shooting a 56, while Blue Devil Carly Franey shot a 55 to take first place.
Kamryn Willis took third with a 57, while Olivia Huntington shot a 62, Mallory Weehler scored 63, Alana Doolittle shot a 72 and Ayla Murphy scored 78.
Leon Triangular
Mount Ayr golf traveled to Leon Monday where both the Raiders and Raiderettes came out with wins over Central Decatur and Interstate-35.
The Raiders continue to improve and outplay the competition, with sophomore Dylan Graham continuing to stay at the front of the pack.
Monday night, Graham took top honors, shooting a 42, but the Mount Ayr golfers were on the mark, taking the top five spots.
Trevin Victor was runner-up with a 45, while Jaxson Greene shot a 48, Tanner Streit also a 48 and Louden Main a 52.
Keye Willis rounded out the Raider scores with a 58, placing 12th.
The Raiderettes saw similar success at the Decatur County Golf and Country Club., taking the top four spots, the day was led by Mallory Weehler who shot a 51, while Linsie Barnes was runner-up with a 53.
Alaina Doolittle and Olivia Huntington both shot 61’s to tie at third place.
Ayla Murphy rounded out the day with a 78 to place eighth.
