The Mount Ayr City Council has set August 1 as the date for a special election to select a new councilperson.
The opening on the council is due to Jordan Stewart moving outside the city limits.
Anyone interested in running for the office may pick up an Affidavit of Candidacy and Nomination Petition at City Hall or the Ringgold County’s Auditor’s Office.
Candidate deadline for filing is Friday, July 7.
