The Mount Ayr cross-country teams ran at their first meet on Thursday, August 31 when they made the short jaunt East to Corydon for the annual Wayne cross-county Invitational.
There, the Mount Ayr girl’s team placed fifth while the Raider boy’s team got their feet wet for another cross-country season.
On the girl’s side, Mount Ayr scored 113 points to place fifth at the meet. Albia won the meet with a team score of 23 points. Martensdale-St. Mary’s was second followed by Central Decatur in third.
Anne Newton was the top Raiderette finisher in 19th place in a time of 23:27. Kacie Larsen placed 29th while Ava England was 35th, Aubree Clarke 36th, and Ashlyn Byer 40th. Other Mount Ayr finishes came from MaKel Jones 53rd and Lillian Fuller 66th.
On the boy’s side, Mount Ayr was led by Braylon Greenwell who placed 46th overall in a time of 21:05. Greenwell was followed by Tegan Hill in 76th place in 23:02, Samuel Hudson in 81st place in a time of 23:26, Carter Levine in 117th place in a time of 30:39.
Chariton won the boy’s meet with 30 points followed by Martensdale-St. Mary’s and Albia.
The Raiders were one of five POI programs that were at the meet.
