The Mount Ayr Raiderettes went to the Lenox Quadangular meet on Monday, August 28 looking for their first victory.
The Raiderettes had played only one match, a 3-1 loss to Bedford, but knew that they would play three matches and one against POI foe Lenox. There, the Raiderettes would drop two of the three matches they played, but the one win was a sweet one. The Raiderettes brushed off losses to Stanton and Clarinda to take down Lenox by a 2-1 score. The Tigers had started off the season 7-0 coming into the event and were 8-0 before losing their first match of the season.
The Raiderettes would beat Lenox 2-1 by scores of 25-23, 17-25, and 15-11. Mount Ayr had 69 attacks in the match and 17 kills. Abby Eaton led with six kills in ten attacks.
Six different Raiderettes had at least one kill in the match. Hayden Ruggles led in assists with nine and serving, going 12-for-14 with six ace serves. Olivia Huntington led the defense collecting seven digs in the match.
The two teams will play another time in the regular season on September 26 at Lenox.
The Raiderettes lost to Stanton 2-0 by scores of 25-18 and 25-14 and Clarinda 2-0 by scores of 25-17 and 25-22 in their other two matches.
