A series of fall events and Halloween fun is just around the corner.
Trick or Treat nights
“Official” trick or treat nights have been set in the following communities:
• Kellerton – Saturday, October 28 from 5-8 p.m.
• Mount Ayr – Sunday, October 29 from 5-7 p.m.
• Diagonal trick or treating will be on Tuesday, October 31.
Fall Fest will be held at Poe Hollow Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on October 28. Participants can look forward to yard games, pumpkin painting and crafts facilitated by conservation staff and volunteers. Cowboy Papas BBQ and a lemonade shaker wagon will also be on site serving food and drinks.
Tingley Fun Night
The 77th annual Halloween Fun Night sponsored by the Tingley Lions Club will take place Saturday, October 28.
The Lions Club soup supper and Ranchers 4-H bake sale will run from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in the Community Building.
From 5-6 p.m. kids ages 0-15 are invited to the Tingley tennis court for the Court n’ Treat, costumes encouraged.
Entries for the Halloween parade will begin lining up at the ball field at 6 p.m. with judging to begin at 6:30 p.m.
The parade will then come down Main Street starting at 7 p.m.
Lions Club drawing winners and parade entry placement will be announced following the parade in front of the Post Office.
Bingo will also be held in the Community Building following the parade.
Nightmare on Madison
The popular “Nightmare on Madison Street” haunted house welcomes visitors to explore “Horror Nights.” The attraction, sponsored by the Ringgold Outdoor Alliance, is located in the upper part of the Timby Building on the northeast corner of the Mount Ayr square.
The thrills and chills run from 7-11 p.m. this weekend Friday, October 27 and Saturday, October 28. Admission is $10, and parental permission/waivers are required.
Trunk or Treats
The United Church of Diagonal is holding its annual Trunk or Treat event from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 31.
Participants will gather in the church parking lot to hand out candy and goodies to kids before they begin their door-to-door trick or treating across the town.
