The Mount Ayr Golf & Country Club was the site for a Class 1A state qualifying meet last Thursday.
There were nine scoring teams and nine other teams represented at the meet for a total of 18 schools represented.
Earlham won the meet with 29 points and Council Bluffs St. Albert was second with 35 points. Grand View Christian placed third as a team with 79 points.
Owen Wise from Council Bluffs St. Alberts won the individual race in a time of 16:44. His teammate Parker Heisterkamp was second in 17:04 and Carson Maly from Earlham placed third in 17:38.
Mount Ayr did not have enough runners to score as a team at the meet.
Samuel Hudson led Raider runners with a 54th place finish in 22:12. Michael Adkisson placed 63rd in 23:21, and Carter Levine placed 69th in 24:25.
The Diagonal boy’s cross-country team placed sixth at the meet. Diagonal scored 177 points.
Carter Lumbard was the first Diagonal player to finish with a 19th place finish in 19:15. Owen Whittington placed 23rd in 19:21. Other Maroons finishing were Garrett Stephens 51st, Jace Lamb 62nd, and EJ Allee 78th.
