This is an engineer’s drawing of the pool concept approved by the Mount Ayr City Council Monday, November 6, 2023.
The City of Mount Ayr pool committee is seeking to close the funding gap for the new 4,000 square foot swimming pool at Judge Lewis Park. While most of the funding has been secured, the committee is looking to raise an additional $500,000 to complete the 3.1 million dollar project.
Earlier this year, the Mount Ayr City Council approved a bond referendum for a new pool at Judge Lewis Park. The city council also approved hiring Waters Edge Aquatic Design, LLC to design, engineer, and oversee the pool project.
Construction is planned to begin in the spring of 2024, with an estimated completion date in May of 2025.
Committee members Lywanda Case, Chandra Poore, Tammy Rychnovsky, Angie Glendenning, Leslie Murphy, Meredith Dredge, David Greene, Jim Murphy, Amanda Waske, Mack Greene, Joan Jackson, Ken Robertson, and Blair Glendenning are welcoming tax-deductible donations towards the capital campaign.
The committee’s goal is to continue making a difference in the lives of individuals by providing a place for swimming lessons, a safe place to swim, and seasonal employment opportunities.
While donations of any amount are welcome, suggested donation levels have been designated as:
Beginning swimmer ($1-$100), Intermediate ($101-$1,000), Advanced ($1,001-$5,000), or Swim Team supporter ($5,001 and above).
You can pledge your financial support by mailing your tax-deductible donation payable to:
City of Mount Ayr/Judge Lewis Pool, 200 S. Taylor Street, Mount Ayr, IA 50854
