The four-year terms for Colby Holmes and Steve Knapp who currently serve on the board of supervisors, Auditor Amanda Waske, and Sheriff Rob Haley will end in 2024.
The Primary Election on Tuesday, June 4 will determine which candidates will qualify for the General Election for a given party.
In Iowa you must be a member of the political party of which you wish to vote for in order to participate (Democratic, Libertarian or Republican). This is known as a “closed primary.”
All county candidates wishing to appear on the primary ballot must file nomination papers with the County Auditor. Each candidate must file an affidavit of candidacy and collect at least 50 signatures for nomination petitions. Candidates may collect signatures from anywhere in the county.
The primary election is held on the 1st Tuesday following the 1st Monday in June of each even-numbered year.
