The Mount Ayr boy’s track and field team had a great night on the track in front of the home crowd on April 23.
The Raiders hosted their co-ed relays with 13 scoring teams coming to town.
The Raiders would collect 78 team points to place third behind meet champion Creston with 83 points and meet runner-up Lenox, with 80 points. Interstate-35 placed fourth with 70 points.
Mount Ayr won six events at the meet.
The Raiders won four relay events and set season best times in three of those. The Raiders 4×200-meter relay team of Ryce Reynolds, Garrett Walter, Jackson Ruggles, and Preston Fleharty won the event and set a new season best time in 1:31.96.
The Raiders 4×800-meter relay team of Aidan Murphy, Michael Adkisson, Brock Shaha, and Tegan Hill won the event and set a new season best time in 9:17.98. The Raiders sprint medley relay team of Garrett Walter, Preston Fleharty, Jackson Ruggles, and Ryce Reynolds won the event and set a new season best time in 1:34.29.
The Raiders also won the 4×400-meter relay in a time of 3:29.69 with the team of Adan Trujillo, Jackson Ruggles, Preston Fleharty, and Ryce Reynolds.
The Raiders won two individual events at the meet. Senior Ryce Reynolds won the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 52.23. He battled Lenox’s Gabe Funk all the way and pulled ahead at the end. Funk finished second in 53.47. Adam Trujillo won the 800-meter run in a season best time of 2:04.76.

The Raiders got sixth place finishes by Aidan Murphy in the 800-meter run in 2:17.71 and Braylon Greenwell in the 3,200-meter run in 12:26.75. Jeremiah Gilliland was seventh in the 3,200-meter run and Braydon Hale had a pair of top-10 finishes in the 110-meter hurdles and the 400-meter hurdles.

In field events, Mount Ayr was led by Trevin Victor with an eighth place finish in the long jump with a best jump of 17-feet, 9 inches. Dalton also scored a top-10 finish in the shot put with a best throw of 42-feet, 9 inches.
