The Mount Ayr Raiderette volleyball program hosted a triangular event last Thursday to begin their 2024 season. They defeat Lenox, but fall to Clarinda and Stanton.
The Raiderettes came into the match after having had scrimmage matches against Creston on August 15 and Bedford on August 20.
At the event, Mount Ayr beat POI rival Lenox 2-1, but lost to Clarinda 2-0 and Stanton 2-0. The Raiderettes record is 1-2.
Mount Ayr will have a big break now, not having any matches scheduled until September 10 when they open Pride of Iowa Conference play at East Union when they will tangle with SW Valley and East Union.
The Raiderettes picked up a three-set win over Lenox, 2-1. The win was the first of the season for Mount Ayr.
Lenox won the first set 25-22 to lead 1-0. The Raiderettes tied the match at 1-1, winning the second set 25-23 to force a third set. In the third set, the Raiders won 15-12 to claim the match 2-1.

Mount Ayr had 38 digs in the match led by Aubree Shields with 12 and Jaxy Knight with 10. The Raiderettes had 24 kills with Shields leading with 11. Jaylee Shaffer led in assists with nine.
The Raiderettes served 53-for-60 in the match with 10 aces. Aubree Shields served 14-for-15 with three aces to lead Mount Ayr.
Against Stanton, Mount Ayr fell 25-14 and 25-16. Stanton had won three matches in a row and had won eight of the 12 most recent meetings.

The Raiderettes served 28-for-33 with two aces in the match. Ashlyn Murphy led, going 10-for-12 with an ace serve.
The Raiderettes had 20 digs in the match led by Olivia Huntington with seven. Mount Ayr had seven assists from Jaylee Shaffer and three Raiderettes tied for the lead in kills with three.
The Raiderettes played Clarinda, a team that has won 14 of the last 15 meetings since 2007, and fell 2-0 to the Cardinals. Scores were 25-12 and 25-18. Aubree Shields led in kills with seven Jaylee Shaffer had seven assists and Dannie Stewart had six assists.
Olivia Huntington led in digs with eight. Mount Ayr served 27-for-31 with three aces. Huntington led going 7-for-7 with two aces.
