The theme, “A Blast in the Raider Past,” will be central to all planned activities.
MACS Homecoming
Homecoming at Mount Ayr Community Schools will begin with a slight change in activities.
A semi-formal dance is kicking off homecoming activities on Saturday, September 21 from 8-11 p.m.
The winter formal will not be held this year, as a fall homecoming dance was preferred.
Student council members proposed the change of date, and a student vote resulted in holding the dance on Saturday prior to the football game, rather than the same night as the game.
High school students will begin the week with Millennial Monday, September 23, while elementary students will be staying comfortable in their favorite pajamas.
The following day, high school students will be twinning on Tuesday, dressing as their favorite movie, television or musical group growing up. Elementary students will be supporting their favorite sports team.
Mid-week, high school students will let their inner child out with a school pajama party, while elementary students will have fun dressing wacky on Wednesday.
Throwback Thursday encourages high school students to revive their favorite elementary look while dressing in team colors. Crazy hair will be on display at the elementary building, or students can wear their favorite hat.
The band/music booster club will be serving supper at 5:30 p.m., and a football jersey auction will be held at 6:45 p.m. at the football field Thursday, September 26.
The homecoming court was announced last week, and coronation of the queen and king will occur after the football jersey auction, along with class contests.
King candidates include Jaize Frost, Tyler Martin, Brock Shaha, Adan Trujillo, and Kash Wasteny.
Those contending for homecoming queen include Aubree Clark, Alana Doolittle, Anna Greenland, Olivia Huntington and Jaxy Knight.

Flashback Friday, otherwise known as spirit day, keeps the tradition of dressing in Raider gear alive.
The homecoming parade will be held at 1:30 on Friday, September 27 with lineup starting at 1 p.m. on the west side of the high school. Businesses and other community entities are encouraged to join the “A Blast in the Raider Past” parade.
To enter or inquire about the parade, contact student council sponsor Tess Rinehart by email at tess.rinehart@mtayrschools.org or call (641)-464-0512.
The parade will lead up to a community pep rally on the football field at 2:15 p.m.
Before the game begins, ribeye sandwiches will be grilled down by Raider stadium.
The Mount Ayr Raider football team will kickoff their home game against the North Mahaska Warhawks at 7 p.m. Recognitions will occur during half time.
