Mount Ayr cross-country run at Creston Invite

The Mount Ayr boy’s and girl’s cross-country teams ran at last week’s Creston Invitational. Both teams did not factor in the team races.

In the girl’s race, the meet saw 68 runners and all 68 finished the race. Last year, the meet was held, but canceled mid-way through due to a storm that kicked up.
Two Mount Ayr runners were in the girl’s race. Leading the way for Mount Ayr was Ashlyn Byer with a 36th place finish in 25:19. Mount Ayr’s Kacie Larsen was close behind, placing 37th in 25:21.
State ranked Earlham won the meet with 39 points after having three, top-10 finishers. POI power, and state ranked, Martensdale-St. Mary’s was the team runner-up with 44 points. The Blue Devils had the top two finishers and three total top-10 finishers at the meet.
In the boy’s race, In one of the biggest meets that the Raiders have ran in to date, Mount Ayr ran at last week’s Creston Panther Invitational.
There, the Raiders were one of 18 teams represented at the meet. The meet had 103 runners who ran and all 103 finished the meet. Mount Ayr had a trio of runners at the meet, but did not factor in the team scores.
Chariton and Earlham battled it out for the team title at the meet. The Chargers won the meet with a team score of 34 points. The Chargers have the top-two finishers including overall champ Kyle Wagoner in 16:21. Wagoner was one of four Chargers to finish in the top-10 finishers.
Earlham was the runner-up finish as a team with 54 points. Earlham had a pair of top-10 finishers. Red Oak was third with 72 points. Martensdale-St. Mary’s was the first Pride of Iowa Conference school to finish with a fourth place team finish.
Braylon Greenwell was the top Raider finisher with a 41st place finish in a time of 20:55. Michael Adkisson was next, placing 62nd in 22:47. Tegan Hill was the final Raider to finish, placing 64th in 22:56.
Mount Ayr will run at the Clarke cross-country Invitational on Tuesday, October 1 and two days later, at the West Central Valley meet in Stuart on Thursday, October 3.
