Over the summer, Bailey Drake quietly opened a private practice in a white brick building along Broadway Street in Diagonal to provide mental health therapy for people of all ages.
As a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), Drake served as a shared social worker for Mount Ayr and Diagonal Community Schools prior to announcing her intent to open a private practice following the 2023-2024 school year.
“While I loved working with our local students in the school system, I’m excited to delve deeper into helping my clients achieve their goals and on their path to wellness,” states Drake. “It is such a privilege to be able to support individuals in their journeys towards healing and growth.”

Diagonal Community Development Corporation (DCDC) held a pair of ribbon cuttings Saturday, December 7 to celebrate two businesses who share the same building on Broadway Street. Shauna Stamps (l) and Katie Daughton (r) representing DCDC held the ribbon for Bailey Drake, LISW, her son Dutton and husband Dillon.
The Diagonal Community Development Corporation (DCDC) held a ribbon cutting last Saturday to celebrate both Bailey Drake, LISW and Farm Roots Designs boutique, as the businesses share the same building.
Drake sees people of all ages and accepts several insurance plans, however, her focus has primarily been working with children since she began her practice. Her children’s wait list began forming long before opening, and she also keeps a separate adult waiting list. She encourages people to reach out to discuss their concerns and is willing to help provide people with therapy referral options.
“Starting my own private practice has been a transformative journey and I am deeply grateful to get to do it in Ringgold County,” says Drake. “It fills me with joy that I am able to practice in a town that I have called home for so long.”
Creating a space that reflects her values and vision fulfilled a long awaited dream Drake had prior to beginning grad school. She enlisted the help of her uncle, Pat George, to construct a separate office space in the back of the building currently shared with Farm Roots Designs boutique. Custom murals designed by Natalie Carlson decorate the front window, waiting room and play room, within her office space.
Drake received her Masters in Social Work from the University of Iowa in 2017. Her experience includes serving as a clinical social worker at Blank Children’s Hospital, Mount Ayr and Diagonal Schools, and providing therapy at Full Circle Therapy Center, LLC, and Crossroads Behavioral Health Services.
