The Mount Ayr boy’s basketball team picked up three wins last week to improve to 6-1 overall and 4-0 in the POI heading to Christmas break.
The wins come after the Raiders only loss this season, a 47-45 setback to Bedford, on December 12.
Mount Ayr will be off for Christmas break until their first game back from break on Friday, January 3 at home against East Union.
Mount Ayr got a big win to start the week against Wayne at home 60-37. The win snapped a three-game win streak by Wayne. The game was close in the first half as the Falcons led 14-13 after the first quarter and with the Raiders fighting back to take a one-point, 24-23 lead at halftime. The Raiders put some distance between themselves and the Falcons in the third quarter using a 14-7 run to take a 38-30 lead after three quarters. The Raiders took control of the game in the final quarter with a 22-7 run to secure the 23-point win.
Mount Ayr had three players reach double figures with Jackson Ruggles scoring 16, Tyler Martin 13, and Tate Dugan 10 points.
Wayne was led by Jaedyn Schoolcraft with 19 points including five made three pointers. Gage Swan added 6 points and Hunter Taylor 4 points and 5 rebounds. The two teams will play again on January 24.

The Timberwolves led 16-11 after the first quarter, but the Raiders made up the seven-point difference in the second quarter to take a 3-point, 33-30 lead at halftime.
