Six Mount Ayr girl’s wrestling members began the unofficial second half of the season last Saturday at the Clarinda Girls Tournament.
There, the Raiderettes placed 15th out of 18 scoring teams. Creston won the tournament with 172 points and Clarinda was the runner-up with 158.5 points. West Central Valley placed third with 99 points.
Brylee Schwebach led the Raiderettes with a third place finish at 170. Schwebach improved to 9-5 with three wins in four matches. Schwebach pinned Carolynn Knott in 41 seconds in the quarterfinals. Schwebach fell in the semifinals, but rallied with a pin over Amelia Grashorn from Treynor in 1:13 in the consolation round. In the third place match, Schwebach would pin a 10-win Betsy Jones from Interstate-35 to claim third.
Tarynn Dredge reached the third place match and improved to 7-8 at the 135-pound weight class. Dredge lost in the quarterfinals, but picked up two wins in the consolation round to reach the third place match. Dredge pinned Lily Lee from Glenwood in 1:18 and Liberty Boettger from Ballard in 1:47 in the consolation round. In the third place match, Dredge fell to Rhowen Miller from West Central Valley.
Addison Doolittle placed 6th at 125. Doolittle improved to 5-11 and picked up one win by pin in the consolation round.
Other wrestlers at the meet but not placing were Addilynn Burton at 115, Sayuri Meadors at 130, and Adalynn Dredge at 140.
