The Mount Ayr girl’s wrestling team had their final regular season meet last Saturday at the Rich Gray women’s wrestling invitational.
The Raiderettes will wrestle Saturday at Central Decatur at a state qualifying meet.
Mount Ayr took six wrestlers to the tournament in Truro and had four place winners. Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont won the tournament with a team score of 256 points followed by Carlisle with 218.5 points and Woodward-Granger third with 176 points. Mount Ayr placed eighth as a team with 67 points.
Brylee Schwebach reached the finals at the 170-pound weight class. Schwebach improved to 21-8 with a pair of wins. Schwebach pinned Lily Deatsch from Carlisle in 40 seconds in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Schwebach followed with a pin over Lilly Gibbons from Martensdale-St. Mary’s in 1:12. Gibbons had 21 wins coming into the match. In the finals, Schwebach had to withdraw due to a medical forfeit.
Alana Doolittle placed third at 235 and improved to 7-5. Doolittle pinned Bella Teague from West Central Valley in 43 seconds in the quarterfinals. Doolittle lost in the semifinals, and came back and won the third place match with a pin in 23 seconds over Hail Klingenberg from Panorama.
Also placing were Tarynn Dredge placed fourth at 135 and Adalynn Dredge placed fifth at 140. Tarynn improved to 16-17 with a win in the quarterfinals where she pinned Jessa Claussen from Woodward-Granger in 2:25. Adalynn improved to 17-12 after winning a pair of matches. Dredge pinned Kailey Larsen from Woodward-Granger in 46 seconds and Emma Van Gorp form Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont in 1:56 in the consolation round. In the fifth place match, Dredge pinned Larsen again in 3:25 to claim fifth place.
Two Raiderettes had a pair of wrestlers who did not place. Addison Doolittle at 125 wrestled in two matches and Sayuri Meadors at 130 also wrestled in two matches but neither placed.

The Raiderettes wrestled at I-35 on Saturday. Brylee Schwebach brought home 2nd place at the Rich Grey Tournament.
