The Mount Ayr e-sports team who competed at state competition includes (L-R) Rolland Adkisson, Trace Knapp, coach Isaac Vos, Calvin Main, and Rylan Larsen.
The Raider E-sports team placed fifth at the winter state competition held last week in Marshalltown.
Team members include Rolland Adkisson, Trace Knapp, Calvin Main, and Rylan Larsen.
In the first round, the Raiders fell to Okoboji, 3-0, to send them to the consolation bracket.
“The kids played really well,” said coach Isaac Vos. “We had a solid plan and matched up well, but their mechanics were just slightly better.”
In their next match, the Raiders blanked Osage, 3-0, to move on.
“The kids knew what to expect when they were playing other teams,” said Vos, “and we played them very well.”
In the third round, New London prevailed over the Raiders, 3-1.
“It was a back-and-forth affair with neither team really giving an inch,” reported Vos. “There were two games that went to overtime, and unfortunately, we lost our last match in overtime.”
The second loss eliminated the Raiders from competition.
