The Mount Ayr Raiderette girls track team competed at the Centerville co-ed last Thursday, their second meet of the week.

Mount Ayr got a event win from Aubree Shields in the long jump and a pair of runner-up relay finishes from their distance medley and 4X800-meter relay teams.
Mount Ayr’s Aubree Shields won the long jump with a top jump attempt of 15-09.25. The Raiderette distance medley relay team of MaKel Jones, Jaxy Knight, Tatum Friedrich, and Addison Doolittle placed second in 4:41.58. Mount Ayr’s 4X800-meter relay team of Kate Newton, Ryley Greenwell, Ava England, and Friedrich was runner-up in a time of 11:16.13.
In individual events, Mount Ayr was led by Addison Doolittle in the 3,000-meter run. Doolittle placed third in 12:04.78. MaKel Jones and Kate Newton also had top-5 finishes. Jones placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:22.20 and Newton placed fifth in the 800-meter run in 2:51.04. Other Mount Ayr top-10 finishes came from Brittlyn Nickle, Jaxy Knight, Shields, Ava England, Kyleigh Conklin, and Ryley Greenwell.
The Raiderettes added another top-3 finish in the relay events. Mount Ayr placed third in the 4X400-meter relay with the team of Newton, Murphy, Doolittle, and Friedrich in a time of 4:34.48.
In field events, Jalyn Akers placed ninth in the discus, and Ashlyn Murphy placed tenth in the shot put.

The second meet in three days for the Mount Ayr boy’s track team

At Centerville, the Raiders and nine other teams battled it out for the team title. Mount Ayr placed fourth at the meet with 67 points. Davis County won the meet with a team score of 128 points while Keokuk placed third with 109 points.
The Raiders stacked their relay events at the meet as all of their entries placed in the top-5.
Mount Ayr was the runner-up in the 4X400-meter relay and the distance medley relay events. The Raiders were second in the 4X4 in a time of 3:43.76 with the team of Garrett Walter, Dyson Thompson, Drayden Thompson, and Trujillo. The distance medley relay team of Tate Dugan, Ruggles, Walter, and Trujillo was runners-up in a time of 3:44.78.
The Raiders placed fourth in the 4X100, sprint medley relay, the 4X400-meter relay, and 4X800-meter relay events.
The Raiders won two events at the meet, two different ones from the events they won in their previous meet.
Junior Jackson Ruggles won the 400-meter hurdle event in a time of 59.36. The Raiders also won the shuttle hurdle relay event with a winning time of 1:06.57 with the team of Adler Reed, Adan Trujillo, Isac Dugan, and Ruggles.
Rowan Sackett had the top Raider finish in the field events with a 10th-place finish in the shot put. Sackett had a best throw of 39-feet, 0.5 inches. Kellon Shaffer just missed a top-10 finish, placing 11th in the discus with a best throw of 100-feet, 7 inches.
Four Raiders collected four top-5 finishes in individual events at the meet. Dyson Thompson placed fourth in the 100-meter dash in 11.58. Manny Hyde placed fifth in the 110-meter high hurdles in 18.50. Bryson Martin placed fifth in the 400-meter dash in 55.96. Jerry Gilliland placed fifth in the 3,200-meter run in 12:16.84.
Mount Ayr will be back on the track this week twice. The Raiders ran at the Creston Panther Invitational on Monday, April 14 and will run at the Neil Goos Co-Ed at Clarke High School on Thursday. The Raiders will open next week with a meet at Lenox on April 21.
