Four new Mount Ayr Community Schools Hall of Fame inductees have been announced. The honorees will officially be recognized at the 2025 Hall of Fame banquet and induction ceremony held in conjunction with the homecoming celebration in October.
This year’s inductees include:

Fay Howie
Fay Howie
In a world that often rushes by, Fay Howie stands out as a beacon of compassion and dedication.
Nominated for this prestigious award, Fay embodies the spirit of community service, always putting others first and making a profound impact on those around her.
After the heartbreaking loss of her husband, Terry, Fay channeled her grief into something positive, creating a legacy that honors his memory. For the past 15 years, she has organized a golf tournament in his honor, with all proceeds dedicated to building a beautiful t-ball field for the youth in our community. This field isn’t just a place to play; it represents her commitment to nurturing the next generation and fostering a sense of belonging.
Fay Howie, embodies selflessness in every aspect of her life. With a heart devoted to her community, she dedicates countless hours to various service projects, always seeking to uplift those around her. Whether tutoring local children, or volunteering to beautify her beloved hometown by weeding the landscaping on the grounds of the courthouse, the school, and the country club, her unwavering commitment inspires others to get involved. She serves on several boards and committees throughout the community. The high school could not survive without her willingness to substitute at a moment’s notice. Her warm demeanor and genuine kindness create a ripple effect of positivity, making her a cherished figure in our community. Through her actions, she not only enriches the lives of those she helps, but also reminds us all of the power of caring for one another. A woman of faith, she is a prime example of loving your neighbor and treating everyone with respect. She is faith in action.

Delwyn Showalter
Delwyn Showalter
Delwyn Showalter came to Mount Ayr in 1984 and taught and coached for 36 years. He graduated from the University of Northern Iowa and taught social studies, was assistant coach and coach to many different sports, and eventually the athletic director and coordinator of the alternative education program.
Coach Showalter was the head coach of the basketball program for 17 seasons winning 176 games and three conference championships. He and Derek Lambert served as co-coaches of the Raider football team for nineteen seasons and achieved unparalleled success with 135 victories, 58 losses, and two state tournament appearances.
During his time at MACHS Mr. Showalter exemplified what it meant to be a dedicated teacher, coach, and true example of a servant leader. He mentored countless student-athletes, instilling in them not only the skills necessary for success on the field, but also the values of hard work, perseverance, character and integrity.
When he transitioned into the role of Activities Director, his visionary approach truly transformed the athletic programs. He painstakingly organized activities and spearheaded improvements to the facilities. Under his leadership we were able to build the middle school gymnasium, change to a turf football field and track improve the high school gym, expand the weight room and wrestling rooms to name a few.
Mr. Showalter was instrumental in creating the Mount Ayr Community Schools Hall of Fame in 2014 and now he will be selected for the group.

Brandon Yoder
Brandon Yoder
Brandon Yoder joined Nebraska Athletics in January of 2024 as the Associate Director for Athletic Medicine. His responsibilities include overseeing the athletic medicine staff. Prior to the Huskers, Yoder spent 10 years at Marquette University, and he was most recently named the Assistant Athletics Director of Sports Medicine in August of 2022. Yoder oversaw the day-to-day operations of the sports medicine department while serving as the primary athletic trainer for men’s basketball and men’s golf during his time at Marquette.
Yoder arrived in Milwaukee after serving for nine years as an assistant athletic trainer at Kansas State, including the last five as the primary trainer for the men’s basketball team. In addition to his duties as men’s basketball athletic trainer, he also coordinated all sports medicine activities for the Basketball Training Facility.
Yoder then joined the men’s basketball staff at K-State after spending three years with the Wildcat baseball and women’s equestrian teams. The baseball team earned its first bid to the NCAA Tournament in his final season in 2009. Prior to this stint, he spent the 2006 spring season as the primary athletic trainer with the track and field program.
Before coming to Kansas State, Yoder worked at the University of Cincinnati covering Bearcat football and baseball for one year. Prior to Cincinnati, he received his master’s degree in liberal arts from Southern Methodist University. While a graduate assistant at SMU, Yoder was the primary care provider for both the men’s and women’s tennis teams, while assisting with the Mustangs’ football team for two years under NATA Hall of Fame member Cash Birdwell.
Yoder earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in athletic training and a second in physical education from Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa, in 2003. While attending Graceland, he was a four-year letter winner for the Yellowjacket baseball team.
He and his wife, Kelly, have four children, three daughters, Peyton, Kamryn, Brooklyn, and one son, Bryant.

Drew Yoder
Drew Yoder
Drew Yoder joined the Golden State Warriors as the Assistant Athletic Trainer in 2013. After two seasons, he was promoted to Head Athletic Trainer. The Mount Ayr, Iowa, native earned his Bachelor’s Degree in athletic training from Kansas State University and his Master’s Degree from the University of Missouri, where he worked as a graduate assistant for the football and golf programs for two seasons.
After graduation, he moved to Dallas, Texas to begin working at Southern Methodist University as an assistant athletic trainer. While at SMU, Yoder gained his first NBA experience while interning with the athletic training staff of the Dallas Mavericks.
Yoder was an intern for the NBA Championship Dallas Mavericks during the20I0-2011 season and an assistant athletic trainer with the Golden State Warriors championship team during the 2014/2015 season. Yoder is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
Yoder developed an interest in athletic healthcare as a two-sport high school athlete at Mount Ayr Community High School. He grew up a “farm boy’’ and appreciated growing up and learning in a small town where everyone supports each other and looks out for one another. Drew is a 2004 graduate of MACHS. He was a member of the 2002 State Golf Tournament team who placed 2nd at state. Drew resides in Daly City, California. Drew and his wife Cora, have two daughters, Ellie and Madalynn.
