The Mount Ayr girl’s track team collected seven event wins at their home co-ed meet on Tuesday, April 29.
The Raiderettes won the distance medley relay, 4X400-meter relay, the high jump, the 3,000-meter run, the 400-meter hurdles, the 200-meter dash, and the 100-meter dash events.
The Mount Ayr girl’s track team battled Interstate-35 for the team title, and each team was the only two to top the 100-point mark. The Roadrunners would win the meet with a team score of 165 points. Mount Ayr would place second in the final team standings with 146 points. Other POI schools at the meet were Lenox, SE Warren, and Southwest Valley.
Mount Ayr freshman Emma Reynolds won the 100-meter and 200-meter dash events. Reynolds won the 100 in a time of 12.83 and the 200 in a time of 26.78. Jaxy Knight also finished in the top-10 in each event with a 6th place finish in the 200 and a 7th place finish in the 100. Reynolds was also the runner-up in the 400-meter dash in 1:00.76.
Addison Doolittle won the 3,000-meter run in 11:59.40. Doolittle was second in the 800-meter run in 2:33,37 and third in the 1,500-meter run in 5:37.03. Aubree Shields won the 400-meter hurdles in 1:13.15.
Also collecting top-10 finishes in individual events were Breya Nickle in the 100-meter hurdles, Aubree Shields and Aubree Clark in the 400-meter dash, Kate Newton and Ava England in the 800-meter run, and Ryley Greenwell in both the 1,500 and 3,000-meter run events. Aubree Shields won the high jump with the best jump of 5-6, setting a new school record in the event.
In relay events, the Raiderettes won the distance medley relay and the 4X400-meter relay. The Mount Ayr 4X400-meter relay team of Tatum Friedrich, Ashlyn Murphy, Shields, and Reynolds won in a time of 4:16.98.
The distance medley relay team of Brittlyn Nickle, Kate Newton, Friedrich, and Doolittle won the event in a time of 4:47.39. The Raiderettes also were second in the sprint medley in a time of 2:01.89.
