The Pride of Iowa Conference boy’s golf title is going to reside in Mount Ayr. Again.
This comes after the Raiders won their sixth meet this season at the 2025 POI conference meet last week in Lenox.
The Raiders won the POI crown by 20 strokes over runner-up Wayne, who was second with a team score of 328 to the Raiders’ 320. SE Warren was third with a team score of 334.
Mount Ayr collected four of the top five scores at the meet. Tanner Streit was the runner-up medalist at the meet with a score of 74, with twin scores of 37. Zayne Eslinger from East Union was the meet medalist with a score of 70 on twin scores of 35.
Mount Ayr had all of its players score under 85 for the 18-hole meet, with three players lowering their second nine-hole scores from their first nine-hole scores.
After Streit, Dylan Graham was near the top of the finishers with a score of 75, including a 38 on the first nine holes and a score of 37 on the second nine holes. Jaxson Walter also scored a 75, lowering his first nine-hole score of 39 by three strokes 36 for the second nine holes.
Other Mount Ayr scores were Jaxson Greene 78, Trevin Victor 80, and Avery Wolfe 82.
Raiders collect 7th meet win of season in home quad
The Mount Ayr boy’s golf team kept their season-long momentum going last Friday, winning their seventh meet of the season on Friday, May 8.
The Raiders, coming off of winning the Pride of Iowa Conference tournament earlier in the week, chased away three other Pride of Iowa Conference teams at the meet.
The Raiders won the meet with a team score of 168, 12 strokes better than meet runner-up SE Warren, which was second with a score of 180. Nodaway Valley was third, and Martensdale-St. Mary’s fourth.
Mount Ayr swept the individual honors with Dylan Graham winning medalist honors with a score of 40 and Trevin Victor taking runner-up medalist honors with a score of 41. Other Mount Ayr scores were Avery Wolfe 42, Jaxson Greene 45, Louden Main 46, and Jaxsen Walter 52.
The Raiders competed at a triangular meet Monday, May 12, at Bedford against the Bulldogs and Lenox. Mount Ayr will be back in action on Wednesday when the Raiders will host a Class 1A sectional meet. Teams coming to town are Bedford, Diagonal, East Union, Lamoni, Lenox, Mormon Trail, and Southwest Valley.
