The Mount Ayr Raider boy’s track team placed second at their home co-ed last Thursday, May 8. The 12-team scoring meet went to the Lenox Tigers, who won the meet with a team score of 117 points. Mount Ayr was second with 98 points, and Wayne was third with 93 points.
The Raiders won four events at the meet. Mount Ayr three relay events. The Raiders won the sprint medley relay with the team of Drayden and Dyson Thompson, Garrett Walter, and Jackson Ruggles in a time of 1:38.47. The Raiders won the 4X100-meter relay with the team of Dyson Thompson, Garrett Walter, Trevin Victor, and Jackson Ruggles in a time of 44.17. The Raiders won the 4X400-meter relay with the team of Bryson Martin, Thompson, Tyler Martin, and Teagan Hill in a time of 3:39.19. Mount Ayr was also the runner-up in the shuttle hurdle relay in a time of 1:07.33. Braylon Greenwell won the only individual event for Mount Ayr, winning the 3,200-meter run in 12:18.43. Drayden Thompson added a top-3 finish in the 400-meter dash in 54.12, and Adan Trujillo placed fourth in the 400-meter dash in 55.11. Bryson Martin was fourth in the 200-meter dash in 24.64, and Isac Dugan was fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:03.08.
In the field events, Mount Ayr finished as a runner-up in the high jump with a best jump of 5-8. Bryson Martin was also third in the long jump with a best jump of 17-09.5. Rowan Sackett and Ethan Johns each placed in the top-5 finishers in the shot put.
Mount Ayr ran on Monday at Central Decatur in an 8-team meet. The Raiders will be back in action Thursday at a Class 1A state qualifying meet at Wayne. The meet will begin at 4:00. Teams at the meet are Diagonal, Central Decatur, East Union Lamoni, Martensdale-St. Mary’s, Moravia, Mormon Trail, Murray, Moulton-Udell, Orient-Macksburg, Seymour, SE Warren, Seymour and Wayne.
