The family lineage is well known, and now it is time for another Reynolds to shine.
Mount Ayr freshman Emma Reynolds captured a pair of individual event titles at last week’s Pride of Iowa Conference meet at Nodaway Valley.
Reynolds win helped the Raiderettes to a third-place team finish with 128 points.
Reynolds ran three individual sprint events and won two and finished second in another. Reynolds won the 200-meter dash in a time of 26.77 and won the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:00.75. Reynolds also was the runner-up in the 100-meter dash in a time of 13.19, .05 behind 100-meter champ Addy Schreck from Central Decatur (13.14).
Central Decatur won their first Pride of Iowa Conference girl’s track and field title at the meet. The Cardinals scored a team high 169 points. Martensdale-St. Mary’s was far back, placing second with 136 points.
Tatum Freidrich had a pair of top-5 finishes with a third-place finish in the 800-meter run in 2:37.28 and placed fifth in the 400-meter dash in 1:04.19.
In field events, Jalyn Akers was the runner-up in the discus with a best throw of 88-06. Aubree Shields was also a runner-up in the high jump with a best jump of 4-10. Ashlyn Murphy and Emily Knox also had top-5 finishes in the shot put.
Mount Ayr had a good night in relay events, placing in the top-5 in all seven relay events. Mount Ayr’s top finishes were runner-up finishes in the 4X4-00-mer relay in 4:21.83 and in the distance medley relay in 4:51.43.
