The Mount Ayr softball team was road warriors last week, playing three of their four games away from their home field.
The results were tough, as the Raiderettes were 1-3 in four games last week with losses at Clarke and Murray and a home loss to Lenox in a one-run game.
The Raiderettes won at Lamoni on June 3 for their second win of the season as their record stands at 2-5 overall and 1-3 in the Pride of Iowa Conference.
The week started with a rainout, as the Raiderettes were to play in Leon on June 3 against Central Decatur. The game was postponed until this week on Wednesday, June 11.
The next night, Mount Ayr made the trek to Lamoni, where they played their first non-conference game of the summer. There, the Raiderettes came away with a 10-6 win, scoring their most runs in a game this year to date. Mount Ayr scored runs in all but one inning in the game.

Mount Ayr had only three hits in the game from three different players. Keely Wasteney, Dannie Stewart, and MaKel Jones all had hits. Breya Nickle and Kensie Barnes each reached base by a walk. The Indians’ win snapped a two-game win streak by Mount Ayr over the Indians over the last three seasons.
The last POI game of the week was against Lenox. The Tigers have played well, but also up and down this year, playing the top teams close. That was the case in the game with Mount Ayr as the Tigers needed three, top of the seventh runs to take the game 6-4.
