The Mount Ayr middle school baseball team opened the season playing at East Union.
East Union 6, Mt. Ayr 3
The A Team started off the morning on June 5 to kick off the season. The Raiders jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first half inning with Wyatt Collier singling and scoring and Collin Conklin drawing a walk and scoring. The Eagles scored 4 in the first to take a 4-2 lead. The rest of the game went by quickly with the final score ending 6-3 in favor of the Eagles.
Conklin pitched 4 innings allowing 5 hits, 3 walks, and 8 strikeouts. Offensively Wyatt Collier had a single and two runs scored. Braxton McAlexander had the other hit for the Raiders. Collin Conklin drew two walks and scored a run. Others drawing walks were Jayden Doubleday, Brogan Gourley, Isaac Kalb, and Jackson Mercer.
Mt. Ayr 6, East Union 6
The B team fell behind 3-1 after one inning with Max Wimer doubling and scoring in the first. In the second the Raiders drew the score to 3-2 after Jackson Mercer walked and scored. The Raiders tied it at 3 after 3 innings with Max Wimer reaching on a dropped third strike and scoring. In the fourth the Raiders allowed 3 runs again and scored 1, with Carter Giles scoring after drawing a walk. In the fifth, the Raiders rallied to score 2 to tie the game with Easton Creveling and Bryant Martin drawing walks and scoring. Then the Raiders held the Eagles scoreless to secure a 6-6 tie.
Max Wimer pitched three innings allowing 3 hits and 6 strikeouts. Jayden Doubleday pitched two innings allowing 1 hit, 5 walks, and 2 strikeouts.
Creston 17, Mt. Ayr 3
On June 10, the Raiders hosted a very tough Creston team.
In the A game, the Raiders made errors early in the first inning allowing 5 runs. The Raiders score two on three hard hit balls to end the first trailing 5-2. The Panthers would tally 12 more runs over the next three innings and only allowed one more Raider run.
Collin Conklin started the game and pitched 1 1/3 innings. Collin allowed 3 hits, 4 walks, 2 strikeouts. Jayden Doubleday pitched 1 2/3 innings allowing 3 hits and 2 walks. Max Wimer pitched the last inning allowing 1 hit and 3 walks.
Offensively the Raiders hit the ball well. Collin Conklin had a double and a walk, scoring 2 runs. Max Wimer had a single and a run scored. Brogan Gourley had an RBI double. Jayden Doubleday had a single and a walk. Braxton McAlexander and Tyler Hanawalt each had singles as well.
Creston 8, Mt. Ayr 5
The B team started off allowing and scoring 3 runs in the first. The Panthers scored 3 more in the second and 2 in the third. The Raiders scored 2 in the third to bring the score to 8-5, where it ended.
Collin Howell pitched 3 innings allowing 4 hits and 3 walks with 1 strikeout. Brogan Gourley pitched the final inning allowing no hits with 2 strikeouts and a hit batter.
Max Wimer had a single, a walk, and scored a run. Collin Howell scored 2 runs on 2 walks. Jayden Doubleday scored a run and had a walk. Easton Creveling scored the other run with a walk and tallied an RBI.
Bedford 10, Mt. Ayr 8
In the A game, the Raiders lost 10-8 on June 11.
Max Wimer pitched 3 innings, allowing 5 hits, 5 walks, and had 1 strikeout. Brogan Gourley pitched 2 innings allowing 1 hit, 2 walks, and 1 strikeout.
Offensively Jayden Doubleday had 1 hit, a walk, and a run. Braxton McAlexander had 2 hits and 2 RBI. Brogan had 2 walks and 2 runs scored. Bryant Martin had a walk and a run. Justin Novak had a hit, a walk, and a run. Tyler Hanawalt had a hit, 2 RBI and 2 runs. Isaac Kalb walked twice and scored a run.
Bedford 9, Mt. Ayr 6
In the B game, the Raiders lost 9-6.
Bryant Martin pitched 3 innings, allowing 6 hits, 5 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Isaac Kalb pitched 1 inning allowing 1 hit, 4 walks, and 1 strikeout.
Offensively, Easton Creveling had 2 hits and 3 RBI. Cater Giles had a hit and an RBI. Jace Braynt had a hit and scored a run. Jackson Mercer had a hit and scored a run. Max Graves had a hit and an RBI. Landon Stark had a hit and an RBI. Braxton (2), Bryant (1) , and Collin Howell (1) all scored runs.
Lenox 6, Mt. Ayr 5
On June 12, the Raiders lost the A game 6-5. Jayden Doubleday pitched 4 innings allowing 6 hits, 4 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Offensively, Jayden was hit by a pitch twice and scored a run with an RBI. Collin Conklin was walked three times and had an RBI. Brogan was walked and scored a run. Bryant was walked and scored a run. Jace was walked twice and scored a run. Justin was walked and scored a run.
Lenox 9, Mt. Ayr 1
The Raiders lost the B game 9-1.
Gabe Larsen pitched an inning allowing 2 hits and 2 walks. Tyler Hanawalt pitched two innings allowing 2 hits, 3 walks, and a strikeout.
Offensively Jayden Doubleday had a double. Collin Howell walked and scored the lone run.
Mt. Ayr 6, SW Valley 0
On June 13, the Raiders defeated SW Valley by a score of 6-0.
Collin Conklin threw all five innings, allowing 1 hit, 7 walks, and 12 strikeouts.
Offensively, Wyatt Collier had 3 hits and scored 2 runs. Max Wimer had a double, an RBI, and a run. Braxton was hit by a pitch and scored. Tyler was walked and Gabe Larsen scored the run after pinch running. Bryant also walked and scored a run.
Wayne 7, Mt. Ayr 6
On June 16 the Raiders lost the A game 7-6.
Brogan threw 2 innings, allowing 3 hits, 6 walks, and 1 strikeout. Max Wimer pitched 1 2/3 innings, allowing a hit and 2 walks and a strikeout. Collin Conklin threw 2/3 of an inning allowing 1 hit, 3 walks, and 3 strikeouts.
Wyatt had a hit and a walk. Brogan walked twice and scored twice. Tyler was hit by a pitch twice and scored a run. Justin had a hit and scored a run. Gabe had a hit and scored a run. Jace walked and scored a run.
Mt. Ayr 8, SW Valley 7
The Raiders won the B game 8-7.
Collin Howell threw all three innings allowing 4 hits, 6 walks, and 1 strikeout.
Max Graves had a hit, walk, and scored a run. Max Wimer had a hit and an RBI. Tyler walked twice and scored 2 runs. Easton was hit by a pitch, walked, and scored 2 runs. Carter Giles walked and Bryant Martin scored a run after pinch running. Collin Howell had a hit, walk, RBI and run scored. Jackson Mercer had two walks and an RBI.
