Mount Ayr wins both matches at Pleasantville Triangular

PLEASANTVILLE – The Mount Ayr Raiderette volleyball team hit the road last Thursday, going to Pleasantville to play their second triangular of the week. Mount Ayr beat Pleasantville out of the West Central Conference 2-0 and beat Clarke out of the South Central Conference 2-0.
Against the Trojans, Mount Ayr won by twin scores of 25-21. Mount Ayr had 17 kills in the match led by Aubree Shields with nine, Izzy Gilbertson with seven and Dannie Stewart with one. Jaylee Shaffer had 15 assists and Shields led in digs with eight. Mount Ayr served 45-for-50 with seven aces as a team. Shaffer led, going 12-for-13 with three aces in the match.
Against Clarke, Mount Ayr won by scores of 25-16 and 25-17. The Indians had only played eight matches as of the Mount Ayr match. The Raiderettes were playing in their 13th match. Mount Ayr had 22 kills led by Aubree Shields with 14. Emma Reynolds and Izzy Gilbertson each had three and Dannie Stewart had two. Jaylee Shaffer had 22 assists. Shields and Abby Larson tied for the team lead in digs with 9 each. The Raiderettes served 46-for-49 as a team with four aces. Larson and Reynolds led with each going 16-for-16 with three combined ace serves.
