Riverside, Iowa – Jaylee Shaffer of Mount Ayr won the 2025 Iowa PGA Junior Tour Girls 16-18 Player of the Year with 3,662 Player of the Year points.
Shaffer appeared in 14 events on the Iowa PGA Junior Tour this season. She won 3 of those events and finished in the top 4 each time she played except twice. She rallied late in the season and added extra events to her schedule where her 1st place finishes assisted in the capture of her Player of the Year honor.
She was victorious at the Western Iowa Junior at Lakeside GC and Fort Dodge CC, the Iowa PGA Junior at Saddleback and the Iowa PGA Junior at Sheaffer Memorial GC. Shaffer’s extensive accolades include being the 2025 state champion as well as the 2024 state runner-up.
This is also Shaffer’s third Iowa PGA Player of the Year award winning the Girls 14-15 title in 2023 and the Girls 13 & Under title in 2022.
The Iowa PGA Junior Tour Player of the Year point totals continued for 2025 in a “best of” approach; points are earned by a player in the top 15 tournaments that he or she participated in. At the conclusion of the season, the player with the most points acquired in their division is awarded this title. The age divisions included are: Boys 11 & Under, Boys 12-13, Boys 14-15, Boys 16-18, Girls 13 & Under, Girls 14- 15, Girls 16-18.
Events are categorized in four groups: Major, Ace, Eagle and Birdie. Major Point events are worth the most amount of points, then Ace, Eagle and finally Birdie. Bonus points were added to the junior’s total if they won a Major for the Boys 14-18 and Girls 14-18. The 2025 Iowa PGA Junior Tour Player of the Year award recipients will be honored at the Iowa PGA Special Awards Luncheon that will be held on Tuesday, October 21 at Riverside Casino & Golf Resort.
