MOUNT AYR, Iowa — The No. 15 Raiderettes were able to sweep action on the hardwood this past week heading into the final stretch of the regular season.
Last Friday the Raiderettes defeated Wayne 54-28 in Mount Ayr. Mount Ayr jumped out to a double digit first quarter lead and never looked back. In the second quarter the Raiderettes ratcheted up the defense closing out the half on a 12-2 run for a 29-9 halftime lead.
Mount Ayr would continue to expand its lead in the third quarter on the way to a 26-point margin of victory.
Izzy Gilbertson led all scorers with 20 points including going a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe. The junior also tied for the game high in rebounds with seven as well blocking seven shots, seven assists and swiping four steals.
Sophomore Emma Reynolds also reached double figures in scoring with 13 points, while junior Jaylee Shaffer added seven points and four rebounds. MaKel Jones had four rebounds and two steals. Juniors Keely Wasteney and Tatum Friederich had four and two assists respectively.

The Raiderettes pulled off a come-from-behind went on the road 51-41 victory over Southwest Valley last Tuesday in Corning.
The two teams went back-and-forth in the early going as Mount Ayr held a one-point lead 12-11 after one quarter. The Raiderettes would extend the lead slightly before halftime for a 22-19 lead at intermission.
The Timberwolves would come out of the break and took the lead 36-33 heading into the fourth quarter. Mount Ayr would not only rally to take the lead but throttled Southwest Valley by ending the game with a 18-5 fourth quarter for the 10-point victory.
Junior Izzy Gilbertson recorded a double-double as she had game highs with 23 points and 11 rebounds. She also had eight steals and three blocks.
Sophomore Emma Reynolds 14 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals. Junior Dannie Stewart had eight points six steals and four rebounds.
Jaylee Shaffer had seven assists while MaKel Jones had four.
The Raiderettes hosted Lenox on Tuesday night (results were not available as of press time) and will play at Southeast Warren in Liberty Center.
