MOUNT AYR, Iowa — The Raiderettes (18-1) continue to dominate area competition while moving up the state rankings in a 57-24 victory over Murray Monday night in Mount Ayr as they begin a three-game stretch this week.
No. 14 Mount Ayr kept the Mustangs in single digits each quarter, while as a team the Raiderettes were able to reach double figures in every quarter as they cruised to a 33-point victory.
Individual statistics were not available as of press time.
The Raiderettes played Central Decatur in Leon on Tuesday (results were not available as of press time) and host East Union on Friday.
Mount Ayr 65
Southeast Warren 27
The Raiderettes scored early and often on the way to a blowout road victory over Southeast Warren last Friday in Liberty Center.
Although the score would be close in the opening minutes, Mount Ayr would open up an 8-point lead over the Warhawks after the first quarter and would go on a scoring spree over the next two quarters. In the second quarter, the Raiderettes would explode for 25 points while holding Southeast Warren to just five points. Mount Ayr would come out of the halftime break with a 19-6 third quarter before coasting to tbhe 38-point victory.
Junior Izzy Gilbertson, after recently eclipsing the 1,000-point mark, scored 23 points for the Raiderettes while also having six rebounds, six assists, six steals and three blocks.
Jaylee Shaffer had 18 points and five assists, while fellow junior Dannie Stewart also reached double figures in scoring with 10 points and three assists. MaKel Jones had six rebounds and four steals and Emma Reynolds had four rebounds and a steal.
Mount Ayr 74
Lenox 23
The No. 15 Raiderettes faced little resistance in a 74-23 victory over Lenox last Tuesday in Mount Ayr.
Mount Ayr wasted little time taking command of the game with a 25-6 first quarter against the Tigers. The Raiderettes would take a comfortable lead into the break up by 36 points. The second half would be more of the same in the blowout victory.
Sophomore Emma Reynolds led the way for Mount Ayr as she outscored Lenox by herself with 24 points.
Dannie Stewart filled up the stat sheet as the junior scored 19 points, had five rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal. Jaylee Shaffer had 13 points, six rebounds and a steal.
Izzy Gilbertson had six rebounds, five assists, four blocks and a steal, while fellow junior Keely Wasteny had four assists.
