MOUNT AYR, Iowa — The Ringgold County Sheriff’s Office announced, along with the Iowa State Sheriff’s and Deputies Association Institute announced the Honorary Membership Program last Friday. The program is intended to provide an opportunity for area citizens, in particular Ringgold County, to become Honorary Members and support local sheriff’s departments by helping to fund critical training and resources for sheriff’s deputies, jailers and staff.
The program also represents an investment in the future of Iowa’s law enforcement families through education with the ISSDA Evelyn Covington Scholarship and supporting youth programs and Special Olympics Iowa.
“We all know community outreach and education has never been more important than it is currently here at Ringgold County Sheriff’s Office,” Sheriff Rob Haley said in a written statement. “We operate with the highest degree of honesty, professionalism and integrity in all that we do with each other, with our community and with our fellow law enforcement agencies.”
The ISSDA is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote the positive role of law enforcement, support members through training and protect the public through community outreach and legislative action.
Haley stated that Michelle Dixon with LAW Publications will be in the community going to local businesses seeking sponsorships for the community’s safety program. The program according to the release states that it get awareness information and material reaches students of area schools and senior citizens in an effort to warn of different risks and dangers of drugs and to inform them on additional safety topics.
The organization will be sending out information to area communities on how to join and participate as an Honorary Member. You can also join online by visiting https://give.issda.org/join/Together. Deputies cover vast areas throughout their normal daily responsibilities. Each call to the sheriffs office is logged and cataloged and ultimately responded to as a service to the county and the towns they serve. These types of programs are a small way to support these important county employees as they serve and protect.
