LEON, Iowa — The Mount Ayr boy’s track and field team had a great performance as they were the runner-up at the Guy Clark Relays last Thursday in Leon.
The Raiders had a second place team score of 85 points in part powered by winning a pair of relay events in the 4×100-meter and the shuttle hurdle and strong performances in their other relay events.
Mount Ayr’s shuttle hurdle relay team won the event in a time of 1:05.12 and the Raiders 4×100-meter relay team won in a time of 44.92. Mount Ayr got a runner-up finish from their 4×400-meter relay, a third place finish from their 4×800-meter relay and a fourth place finish from their sprint medley relay.
Mount Ayr’s top field event finishers were Rowan Sackett placing third in the shot put and Kellon Shaffer placing seventh in the discus. Sackett had a best throw of 44-feet, 5.5-inches to place third.  Shaffer had a best throw of 120-feet, 11-inches in the discus. Logan Mercer also placed ninth in the shot put to give the Raiders a pair of top-10 finishers in the event.
The Raiders did well in the individual events on the track as well with a pair of runner-up finishes and a pair of third place finishes.
Drayden Thompson was the runner-up in the 100-meter dash in 11.71 and Calvin Main was the runner-up in the 110-meter hurdles in 17.06. Bryson Martin placed third in the 400-meter dash in 56.15 and Braylon Greenwell was third in the 1,600-meter run in 5:08.37.
Other top-10 Mount Ayr finishes came from Isac Dugan in the 100-meter dash, Weston Adams in the 1,600-meter run, Michael Adkisson in the 110-meter hurdles and a 10th place finish in the 400-meter hurdles.
