The Ringgold County Courthouse lawn was adorned by eager vendors sharing their wares and delicious treats during a the first farmer’s market of the season held last Friday.
The event, which had the blessings of the Mount Ayr Chamber of Commerce and the City of Mount Ayr, had vendors from all over the area set up tents and tables to display their various confections and crafts. The event was spearheaded by Anna Neathery, owner of the Country Ayr Cottage Bakery. Neathery organized the event and attended all the necessary city council sessions in order to gain the approval for the event. Once all the formalities were attended to, the event was green lighted and proceeded.
Show attendees were treated to a near perfect weather day which added to the successful endeavor. The event ran from 2 to 6 p.m. There will be another farmers market held on the June 26, at the same location. Details of this event and sign up for vendors can be found on the Chamber’s website or by contacting Neathery directly on her bakery Facebook page.
