The Raiders had a short, but important week last week. The Raiders recorded wins against Southwest Valley and Southeast Warren to stay undefeated in the Pride of Iowa.
Mt. Ayr 18, SWV 0
The Raiders put 18 runs up against the Timberwolves last Tuesday, through three innings. The Raiders put across three in the first, seven in the second and eight in the third.
Jaixen Frost started the night on the mound and allowed one run, while strikingout five.
Dawson Swank came in for one inning. Swank pitched 10 balls and struck out five.
Combined the two threw a no-hitter.
The Raider defense recorded 12 putouts on 12 total chances.
At the plate, Mount Ayr recorded 18 runs on 12 hits, 14 of which were RBI, while walking nine times and reaching on error three times.
Frost hit a home run and recorded five RBI on the night.
“We were hitting the ball hard and that’s exactly what we want to see,” said coach Chris Elwood. “Being able to win 18 to nothing, we never try to embarrass anybody, but you can’t keep the kids from hitting. I hope we can carry this momentum into Friday.”

The Raider momentum did carry into Friday as they gained a big win over the Southeast Warren Warhawks on Friday.
Both teams entered the contest at 10-3, with Mount Ayr improving to 11-3 after a 7-2 win.
The Warhawks were ahead early with two runs in the second, however the Raiders put up seven runs from the fourth through the seventh inning, to take the win.
Jaydon Knight received the win on the mound, pitching five innings and throwing 101 pitches. Knight allowed two runs on three hits with 10 strikes on the night.
Jaixen Frost came in to close the contest in the sixth and seventh innings, throwing 23 pitches, allowing one hit and recorded four strikeouts.
Behind the mound, the Raiders recorded 21 putouts on 27 total chances.
At the plate, the Raiders recorded eight hits on 30 at-bats while recording five RBI.
“We were struggling with our at-bats and first time through our lineup, he struck out seven of our nine guys,” said coach Elwood. “Our guys did a good job of making adjustments. It’s a big win for us. Jaydon threw extremely well, Jaixen threw extremely well. We had big two-out hits and that’s exactly what we need heading into next week. I am very pleased.”
