Mount Ayr 50,
Lenox 45
The Mount Ayr Raiderettes and Lenox Tigers fought things out on the hardwood last week in the second Pride of Iowa match-up of the season.
The Tigers have won the last three meetings between the two teams dating back to 2017.
It was a tight contest on Tuesday, December 6 and by halftime it looked like either team could run away with the win.
After one quarter, the Raiderettes held a one point lead, before falling behind in the second to trail 30-23.
The second-half saw the Raiderettes hit the ground running to outscore the Tigers 27-15 to take the five-point victory and to improve to 3-1 on the season.
The Raiderettes were able to get five fouls on Tiger standout, and leading scorer, Cadence Douglas to take her out of the game late in the fourth.
Breya Nickle, for the second game in a row, led the team with 19 points, while also leading in steals.
Nickle was the only Raiderette in double-digit scoring and hit two-of-six threes while also nailing five-of-six twos and three-of-four free throws.

Mount Ayr 66, SW 15
Saturday, December 10, the Raiderettes had a nice win over the Seymour Warriors, another game on the road for Mount Ayr, before they come back home to host the Wayne Falcons.
In the 66-15 win over the Warriors, the Raiderettes improved to 5-1 on the season.
Tegan Streit led the scorers with 15 points, while Jaxy Knight scored 14 and Tabby Henle put 13 on the board to round out the double digit scorers.
Knight also led the team in steals with six, while Linsie Barnes led the team in rebounds with nine.
The Raiderettes scored double points in every frame of the game, with the most coming in the first quarter with 25, while allowing only two.
Seymour struggled to score against the stingy Mount Ayr defense, scoring their most points in the fourth with six points.
The Raiderettes shot 66.7 percent on the night, while hitting two-of-eight threes and 16-of-30 free throws.
“Sometimes you just never know how teenage girls will respond to a Saturday afternoon game,” said coach Streit. “Boy, our girls exploded right at the tip and never looked back. We saw some good things today. Defense was good, shot a high percentage, took care of the ball, got to the free throw line and we did not foul. Pretty good effort today.”
The Raiderettes had a short break this week, while coming back to play at home today (Thursday, December 15) against Wayne.
