The 2024 Pride of Iowa Conference honors list for the completed volleyball season was released last week.
The annual list showcases and honors the league’s best volleyball players from the previous season.
This year, the Mount Ayr Raiderettes tied with the most all-conference selections among the nine-member schools with five.

Those selections were sophomore Jaylee Shaffer first-team setter, junior Aubree Shields first-team hitter, senior Breya Nickle second-team hitter, senior defensive specialist Jaxy Knight second team, and senior Ashlyn Murphy, an honorable mention selection.
Shaffer led Mount Ayr in assists with 345 this year. She also had 27 kills on 138 attacks, 156 digs, and served 276-for-288 with 30 aces. Nickle had 118 kills on 367 attacks. Nickle also had 108 digs and served 229-for-250 with 20 aces. Shields led Mount Ayr with 297 kills on 720 attacks this year. Shields also had 287 digs and served 225-for-264 with 34 aces. Knight led the Raiderettes in digs with 356 and served 197-for-245 with 29 aces. She also had 20 kills in 88 attack attempts. Murphy had 110 kills on 344 attacks, and 105 digs, and served 301-for-318 with 45 aces.
The Raiderettes finished the season 17-17 overall. The 17 wins were the most since the 2017 season when Mount Ayr won 20 matches.
There was only one unanimous selection on this year’s POI All-Conference teams. That was Lenox senior Sadie Cox. Cox had a conference-leading 459 kills in 1,034 attacks, also a POI high. Cox was also the POI leader in solo blocks with 43. Cox was second in the POI in total blocks and kill efficiency, third in ace serves, and fourth in digs among all POI players this season.
2024 Pride of Iowa Conference champion Southwest Valley, had three first-team selections and five overall selections on the team. Lenox and Mount Ayr also had five selections in total on the teams’.
The Pride of Iowa Conference had a pair of teams reach a Regional Final in their respective postseason regional tournaments. SE Warren lost to top-ranked Ankeny Christian 3-0 in the 1A Region 1 Final while SW Valley lost to 7th-ranked Janesville 3-0 in the 1A Region 6 Final. Three POI teams had 20 or more total wins this year. SW Valley ended the year 30-4, SE Warren ended 27-20, and Lenox ended the year 23-16.
Two other teams had double-digit win totals with Mount Ayr going 17-17 and Wayne going 11-15.
The Falcons will graduate eight seniors from this year’s team. Graduating from the team this year will be Jaxy Knight, Koda Henle, Breya Nickle, Anna Greenland, Kamryn Willis, Ashlyn Murphy, Kyleigh Conklin, and Harper Whittington.
