Highway 2 closures in Fremont Co.

Motorists driving Iowa 2 between Interstate 29 and U.S. 275 in Fremont County need to be aware of an upcoming bridge replacement project that may slow down their trip.
Beginning on Monday, April 7, until October 7, weather permitting, crews will remove and replace three bridges on Iowa 2, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Council Bluffs construction office.
At the early stages of the project, Iowa 2 will be intermittently closed, and vehicles will be directed through the work zone by flaggers so the construction crew can set up their equipment and transport materials needed for the project.
Iowa 2 will be closed to traffic starting on Wednesday, April 16, weather permitting. Westbound drivers on Highway 2 will be detoured south on US Highway 275 to Iowa 333, then west a short distance to the intersection with Interstate 29.
Eastbound drivers will follow the opposite route.
Detours will be clearly marked prior to the highway closures.
