The city of Mount Ayr is set to usher in the holidays with a Lighted Christmas Parade on December 6.
The parade will begin at the old train depot site and work its way south to the city square scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m..
Among the other activities planned in addition to the lighted parade, there will be “A Very Special Vintage Christmas” baked potato supper sponsored by the First Christian Church from 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
There will be a tree lighting for the city’s formal Christmas tree located in front of the Skelly gas station at 6:30 p.m.
The Fill a Truck for Faye” fire trucks will be on display and will feature a Hot Cocoa bar, apple cider and baked goods. The fire departments will also be accepting donations at the site during the festivities.
There will be a variety of Christmas themed events taking place inside the Ringgold county court house. In the lobby, guests will be able to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus as they greet children and adults alike to whisper their secret Christmas list to Santa.
The court house will also be adorned with a number of holiday trees named appropriately enough “Tour of Trees”
In the assembly room, the Mount Ayr High School choir will be entertaining visitors with song from 6:30 – 7:15 p.m. Additional musical entertainment will be provided by members of The First Christian Church as they present “Heartbeat of Christmas”
All and all, the square will be buzzing with the official kick off to the holiday season.
