Mount Ayr, Iowa – Last week, on Tuesday, January 13 the Raiderettes took a hit to their perfect record with a narrow 73-71 loss against the Nodaway Valley in Mount Ayr.
Mount Ayr (12-1) fell behind early trailing 17-11 after one quarter. The high-scoring affair continued in the second quarter as the two teams combined for nearly 50 points in that quarter alone. Nodaway Valley would go into halftime with a 44-31 lead.
The Raiderettes fought back after intermission and cut into the Nodaway lead. They would continue to battle in the final quarter but could not overcome the large Wolverine lead in the two two-point loss.
gave up some valuable points, while still managing to outscore the Wolverines in the third and fourth quarters. The gap made in the first half of the game was too large leading to the Raiderettes losing by two points.
Izzy Gilbertson led the Raiderettes in points and rebounds noticing a double-double as the junior scored 28 points and secured 16 rebounds to go along with five blocks and two steals.
Junior Dannie Stewart scored 17 points and five rebounds. Sophomore Emma Reynolds scored 13 points and had six rebounds and four steals. Junior Jaylee Shaffer led the Raiderettes in assists with eight.
