AMES, Iowa — The Mount Ayr boy’s track team made the trip to Ames and Iowa State University for the 2026 IATC Indoor state meet last Friday. Though the Raiders did not place in the team race in their class, they did get some baseline times and experience. The Raiders will be back on the track this Saturday, when they compete at the Northwest Missouri State University indoor meet on Saturday in Maryville, Mo.
The Raiders had one athlete compete in the long jump as Dyson Thompson placed ninth at 18-feet 10.25-inches. The finish was the top Mount Ayr placing at the meet.
The Raiders ran in three relay events with their top finish coming from their shuttle hurdle relay team of Jackson Ruggles, Tate Dugan, Manny Hyde and Calvin Main. The team placed 10th in 37.77. The Raiders were 12th in the 4×100 and 16th in the 4×400 relays.
The Riverside Bulldogs won the Class 1A indoor state title with 63 points. Iowa Valley and New London tied for second with 48 points. Treynor won the Class 2A state title with 53 points followed by Spirit Lake in second with 46 and Iowa City Regina in third with 39 points. Pella won the Class 3A title with 63.5 points and Cedar Rapids Kennedy won the Class 4A state title with 68 points.
