CRESTON, Iowa — The Mount Ayr boys and girls golf teams each picked up big dual wins last Friday at Creston. The Mount Ayr boys won 174 to 183 while the Mount Ayr girls won 218 to 234. The meet was held at Crestmoor Golf Club.
Mount Ayr swept the girls’ side with medalist Jaylee Shaffer carding a top score of 38 and runner-up medalist Izzy Gilbertson with a score of 48. Other Mount Ayr scores were Claire Routh 63, Alyssa Doolittle 69, and Dallas Newton 71.
Marshall Long of Creston was the boys medalist with a score of 40 while Mount Ayr claimed the runner-up medalist honors from Avery Wolfe with a score of 41. Other Mount Ayr scores were Jaxson Greene 43, Tanner Streit 45, Drew Graham 45, Adler Reed 49 and Tytan Gourley 51.
The conference meet is this week for both Mount Ayr teams. The boys played on Tuesday at Deer Run Golf Club in Indianola (results were not available as of press time). The girls played Wednesday at East Union for their conference meet at Lakeshore Country Club in Afton (results were not available as of press time). The Mount Ayr boys and girls teams also will have a POI quad meet at home on Thursday.
The Mount Ayr junior varsity boys also were in action at the meet. The Raiders beat Creston by a team score of 197 to 216. The Raiders’ Carter Levine tied for the medalist honors with a score of 44. Other Mount Ayr scores were Wyatt Parman 50, Nathan Rusk 50, Hayes Stogdill 53, Peyton Levine 54, Ben Curry 59, Isaac Rusk 60, Nathan Roemer 60 and Calvin Main 75.
