FLORENCE IDELLA BISHOP

Florence Idella Bishop, daughter of Lawrence Elsie and Myra Ada (Meixner) Osborn, was born December 16, 1933 at Muscatine, Iowa.
Florence grew up at West Liberty, Iowa. She worked hard to help support her family. In her younger years, Florence enjoyed roller skating, dancing and gymnastics.
Florence married Chester Clark and to this marriage was born Darrell Clark. They lived in Kansas and Florence worked at the Boeing Plant in Wichita, KS.
On November 21, 1960, Florence married Lawrence Eugene Bishop in Council Bluffs, IA. To this marriage was born three children: Melvin, Sherry and Lori. They lived at Lewis, Iowa and Florence worked at the Whitney Hotel in Atlantic, IA. In 1968, they moved to Tingley, Iowa.
Florence was very clean and because of this, she cleaned homes in Tingley as well as the Tingley State Bank and the Tingley Community Building. Florence was a social butterfly and she loved to visit and drink coffee with her friends in Tingley. She was a wonderful cook and maintained a large garden and did a lot of canning with the produce. Florence had an ear for music and played the piano and the accordion. Florence was an artist and she drew the pictures for the Tingley Centennial Cookbook. Her faith was important to her and she was an active member of the Tingley United Methodist Church. She held various offices and she taught adult Sunday School. She helped with and prepared numerous funeral luncheons over the years.
Florence passed away August 20, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband “Bish” on September 11, 2014; stillborn daughter, Marcia June Clark, and infant son, Melvin Lee Bishop; and her siblings, Walter Osborn, Mary Kruger, Angeline Gaunt, John Osborn, and Leslie “Lucky” Osborn.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son Darrell Clark of Littleton, Colorado; daughters Sherry Briner of Tingley and Lori (Paul) Tull of Creston, IA; grandchildren April (Justin) Hansen, Joshua (Schianniah) Briner, Kaden Kibbe, Kody Kibbe, Bethany (Toby) Burgess, Kristen (Noah) Hamilton, and Brandon (Destiny Sechser) Tull; great grandchildren Clayton, Dustin, and Jasmine Hansen, Austin and Alice Briner, Kaitlyn, Keigan, and Levi Burgess, Nevaeh, Mikalya, Serenity Floyd, Grace Lynn Hamilton, Jericho Tull, and Jayonna Tull; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Visitation was at 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa Services was at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa. Officiating was Rev. Judd Stover.Special songs were “I Believe”, “Dancing In The Sky”, “I Can Only Imagine” and “Amazing Grace”. Casketbearers were Josh Briner, Brandon Tull, Kaden Kibbe, Kody Kibbe, Clayton Hansen, Dustin Hansen.  Honorary pallbearers were Justin, Hansen, Noah Hamilton and Toby Burgess. Burial was at the Tingley Cemetery in Tingley, Iowa. Memorials can be left in her name to be decided later.
