Obituary – Cody James Couts

Cody James Couts of Omaha, Nebraska passed away on December 10, 2025. He was born on April 1, 1974, in Mount Ayr, Iowa, to George F. Couts and Lenore E. “Lesa” Perry. His grandparents, Merrill and Susan Perry of Mount Ayr, raised Cody from the age of six.
Cody graduated from Mount Ayr Community High School in 1993. He earned a degree from Minneapolis School of Art in computer graphic design and designed several games. He enjoyed being a gamer and had many gamer friends.
At the age of four years old, his parents took Cody and his brother Caleb to see Star Wars, and he became a fan of the Star Wars franchise for the rest of his life. As an adult he made authentic looking Darth Vader and Sith costumes which he enjoyed wearing at Halloween and entertaining at parties.
Surviving Cody is his mother, Lenore Nuri (Perry) of Phoenix, Arizona, one brother and two sisters, his step-uncles Mike Avitt and Mark Avitt and his aunt Lisa Perry (Groom). He is preceded in death by brother Caleb Couts, father George Couts, grandmother Mary Perry (Hulett), grandfather Merrill Perry, and step-grandmother Susan Perry (Henderson Avitt), and his uncle David Perry.
A private interment ceremony was held for Cody.
