Mt. Ayr 73, I-35 50
The Raiderettes were victorious over the Interstate 35 Lady Roadrunners on Saturday night to advanced to the next round of regional play against Central Decatur.
The Raiderettes were led by Sam Stewart who had a huge game, almost breaking the record for most points in a game, with 37.
The other girls really helped to elevate Stewart, making sure she got the ball towards the end before coach Thad Streit pulled her in a better safe than sorry scenario with the powerhouse Cardinals coming up right around the corner.
Stewart was 15-of-24 in the victory, and had seven steals to help push her to 37 points.
Keirston Klommhaus sat at eight points on the night for second most points in the game. Klommhaus was four-of-six and had five steals.

Mount Ayr 61, NV 52
Earlier in the week, the Raiderettes played a makeup game against the Nodaway Valley Lady Wolverines in which they squeaked out a win, 61-52.
Nodaway Valley entered halftime up 24-18 but halftime adjustments saw the Raiderettes come back fresh in the 2nd half to out score the Lady Wolverines 19-9 to take the lead. Mount Ayr stayed ahead the rest of the game to close the deal and bring home a final regular season win, finishing out the year 14-6 before heading into post-season play.
In the win, Keirston Klommhaus scored 24 points for a team high. Klommhaus was eight-of-15 from the floor while going eight-of-10 from the free throw line as well as snagging 10 rebounds.
“Nodaway Valley gave us a great game,” said coach Streit. “We had foul trouble and we were not ourselves in the first half. Our girls showed a lot of grit to come back ad take the lead and hold onto that lead to win that game. Nodaway Valley is a tough place to play and it was a total team effort to win tonight. We now have a few days off to get ready for regionals.”
