The Raiders return 22 letterwinners from last years 2nd place conference team after graduating seven.
“We have a good group of last year’s state qualifiers returning to campaign in class 2A again this season,” said coach Brad Elliott. “We have had a great preseason working with mid-distance runners and sprinters. We will look to find new talent to reload in the field events this season where we have some fresh faces competing for the first time.”
New to boys track this year is the height of the hurdles in the shuttle hurdle relay, with an increase to 36 inches.
“The group has been working diligently to prepare themselves for compeition.” said coach Elliott.
With Interstate-35 and Pleasantville leaving the conference, there will be a shakeup in the points this year, which should make for an interesting season.
This year’s team consists of seniors Hunter Arends, John Shields, Connor Eaton, Nathan Hauge, Chase Henry, Chase Smith, Hunter Haveman and Trenton Stull; juniors Dawson Frost, Reas Knapp, Ryker Hickman, Keelan Klommhaus, Kolben Klommhaus, Jordan McAlexander, Isaac Timmerman, Joan Trujillo and Branden Handy; Sophomores Erik Trujillo, Rhett Larson, Seth Shelman, Dawson Swank Trae Ehlen, Jarrett Webb and Payton Weehler; and freshmen Adler Shay, Austin Cole and Will Newton.
