POI Meet
The Raiders participated in the Pride of Iowa track meet in Corning Monday night and came home tying the school record for most points scored in a meet with 209. Hunter Haveman was the individual points leader for Mount Ayr with 25.
The Raiders took first and second in the 100 meter dash with Hunter Haveman and Seth Shelman while Haveman also took first in the 200 meter dash, Connor Eaton matched him stride for stride to finish second. Haveman finished in a time of 23.32 while Eaton finished in 23.35.
Another one-two finish for Mount Ayr saw Hunter Arends and Payton Weehler take the two top spots in the 400 meter.
The 800 meter saw the same for Mount Ayr with another close one-two this time between Nathan Hauge finishing in a time of 2:08.31 and Trae Ehlen running a 2:08.70.
Dawson Frost saw his time in the 400 meter hurdles go under one minute with a first place finish in a time of 58.68, as well as clear a height of 5-10 to take second in the high jump.
Hunter Arends, Seth Shelman, Connor Eaton and Hunter Haveman took first in the 4×100 relay with a time of 45.30.
Arends, Haveman and Eaton also competed in the 4×400 with Payton Weehler to take first in a time of 3:34.79.
The team of John Shields, Adler Shay, Trae Ehlen and Nathan Hauge saw a first place finish in the 4×800, finishing in a time of 8:48.58.
Eaton, Arends, Shelman and Weehler saw more points as they ran a 1:39.87 to finish first in the sprint medley and the team of Reas Knapp, Keelan Klommhaus, Austin Cole and Isaac Timmerman finished in a time of 3:55.72 to take first.
Raider Relays
The Raider track team amassed 182 points at the Raider Relays held last Tuesday night.
The Raiders won a handful of events, mostly in relays.
The boys sprint medley team of Hunter Arends, Seth Shelman, Payton Weehler and Connor Eaton ran a time of 1:38.15 to take first as did the 4×800 team of John Shields, Adler Shay, Trae Ehlen and Nathan Hauge. They ran a time of 8:47.13.
The Raider shuttle hurdle team finished first in a time of 1:04.27 and consisted of Kolben Klommhaus, Briar Knapp, Dawson Frost and Keelan Klommhus.
The Raiders finished first and second in the 100 meter dash with Hunter Haveman and Noah Shelman finishing in 11.61 and 11.63, respectively.
In the 400 meter dash, Hunter Arends and Payton Weehler also finished in 1-2 fashion running times of 52.56 and 53.16.
Hunter Haveman finished first in the 200 meter in a time of 23.48 to earn 10 more points to an already leading Mount Ayr team.
The Raider team of Reas Knapp, Keelan Klommhaus, Kolben Klommhaus and Seth Shelman finished in a time of 47.05 to take first in the 4×100.
Finishing out the night, the Raiders won the prestigious 4×400. The relay team included Payton Weehler, Connor Eaton, Hunter Haveman and Hunter Arends.
Van Meter Coed
The Raiders finished second at the Dave Tapps Invite in Van Meter last week, with Madrid taking top honors with 189 points to Mount Ayr’s 121.
The Raiders had a number of wins, but couldn’t catch the tough Madrid field.
Connor Eaton finished first in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.71. Eaton was also part of the first place finishing 4×100 team with Hunter Arends, Seth Shelman and Hunter Haveman. Their time of 44.92 took top spot.
The Raider 400 meter shuttle hurdle race took first as well with a time of 1:03.79 and consisted of Kolben Klommhaus, Dawson Frost, Seth Shelman and Keelan Klommhaus.
The only other Raider event to take first was the 800 sprint medley. Hunter Arends, Payton Weehler, Connor Eaton and Hunter Haveman finished first with a time of 1:38.22.
