MacKenzie Shields clears the bar during the high jump as she competed to advance to the State Meet. Shields cleared 5-1 and came in fourth overall, but was able to sneak in as one of the top eight in the state to move on.
Two Raiderettes were able to squeeze through to compete on the Blue Oval this week at the State Track Meet in Des Moines.
Gracie Mobley qualified in the discus after placing fifth overall with a throw of 111-09, while MacKenzie Shields qualified in the high jump after clearing 5-01.
The other Raiderette events struggled throughout the night, with the highest placing track event being the 4×100 relay in 4th place with a time of 53.94. That team consisted of Tiril Sjøberg, Keirston Klommhaus, Jaycee Knight and Payten Lambert.
The Raiderettes finished eighth overall in the meet, with Panorama taking top honors.
The girls will be competing in their events on Friday at 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. with discus first and high jump coming second.
