Gracie Mobley kicked things off for the Raiderettes at the State Track Meet at Drake University in Des Moines.
The conditions were wet as competitors were kicking up plenty of water as they wound up for the throw.
Mobley’s first throw landed out-of-bounds and was marked a scratch.
On her second throw, she threw a 101-10, before throwing about 112 feet which landed just out-of-bounds.
With her throw of 101-10, Mobley placed 19th overall.
MacKenzie Shields was the only other Raiderette competing at State Track this year.
Shields, a senior, was enjoying her last meet in a Raiderette uniform, in the high jump.
In a four-way tie, Shields placed 10th after clearing 5-0.
“I’m sad, but also excited at the same time, I’m ready to start my next journey but also sad that I’m not going to be competing for Mount Ayr anymore.”, said MacKenzie Shields. “I’m not really used to the rain because we haven’t had a meet in the rain yet, but it was fun. I actually liked it in the rain, it wasn’t bad. I was glad I got five foot.”
Shields will graduate and is a four year veteran, placing eighth her sophomore year in the high jump.
