Track and golf have ended and school is coming to a close, which means softball and baseball season are upon us.
The Raiderettes are looking towards Fort Dodge after falling one game short, losing to Logan-Magnolia who fell to Wilton during their stay in Fort Dodge.
The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Association released the first rankings of the season on Monday and the Raiderettes were left off once again.
“They can keep us off the rankings,” said coach Bret Ruggles. “But they can’t keep us out of the tournament!”
Ruggles joins his wife Brandi, as co-head coach once again this year, in what will be their final year with the Raiderettes.
The girls graduated Alyssa Johnson and Sara Winemiller last year but return the speed and hitting power they had from last year with Adalyn Reynolds, Sam Stewart and Jaycee Knight as well as star pitcher/hitter Caroline McAlexander and her catcher Abigail Barnes.
The season kicks off this Friday with the Raiderettes heading to Bedford, with the junior varsity starting things at 5:30 p.m.
